If enabled by your clinic, you can assign forms with ID Verification (IDV). When agreements require a high level of trust, senders of eSign forms can request signers to verify their identity with government-issued identification before accessing the form.

How does ID Verification (IDV) work?
First, the signer uploads a photo of their government-issued driver's license or passport. The ID is then verified as legitimate by confirming:
- The MRZs (machine readable zones), such as the barcode, decode to information that is consistent with the rest of the ID
- Visual features/holograms are consistent with what that ID type should look like
- There is no evidence of tampering in terms of fonts, letter spacing, holes in the ID, etc.
Second, the name on the ID is compared to the signer's name on the envelope.
Third, success or failure is determined
- If the ID is deemed legitimate and the name matches the envelope, the ID verification is successful and the signer can proceed with signing. See The ID Verification (IDV) Process for more information on the patient IDV experience.
- If the ID is not deemed legitimate and/or the name does not match the envelope, the sender (clinic staff) will have the opportunity to manually review the ID before allowing the signer to sign. See Manual ID Verification Process for more information.
How to assign a form with ID Verification (IDV)
1. Within the EngagedMD portal, search and click on a patient account fill out all required fields, select the needed Forms or Packets. For Authentication choose ID Verification.
Next, click on Add New Form
2. The system will then automatically send the forms to the patient via an email from noreply@engagedmd.com. The email will state "A new form has been assigned". The patient will then be able to Review & Sign Form by clicking on the link.
The patient will first have to upload a picture of an ID from their country of origin. For a list of accepted countries see ID Verification (IDV) F.A.Q for more information.
If you have questions about ID Verification configurations available to your clinic please see Verification (IDV) Configurations.
